In an attempt to become more organized in the kitchen I've realized all its going to take is a little pre- planning. So today its off to buy ingredients, so over the weekend, I can make these wonderful little pizza's a friend (a food stylist in the making) made for lunch while I was photographing a folio recently - they looked so good that lunch had to wait while I took these photo's and included them in the folio...

Old Picture Books
Its such a pity so many old picture books are thrown out because they have a damaged cover or loose pages...... I found an old book from the 50's called The Children's Hour recently, and the illustrations are fantastic - I particularly like these red and black ones - the paper feels lovely and they will make great cards, or look lovely framed up as pictures....

Keepsakes - Recipes, Mementos, Miscellany
One of my favorite books at the moment would have to be Keepsakes by Frances Hansen...
Keepsakes is a visual feast of recipes and nostalgia-filled pages created from unusual objects, such as handwritten song lyrics, discarded shopping lists, stamps, pieces of wall paper, sketches and other wonderful mementos.
I love Keepsakes from a nostalgic point of view (being a kiwi living in Australia) and always manage to find something inspiring on every page.... I'm not sure I'll use the recipes but I love how Frances has taken old collected items and created something new and vibrant.... This book has a wonderful texture and feels lovely to hold... there is room to add personal touches, and I already have a couple of my own keepsakes sitting between the pages...

Vinnies - Mary
Most Vinnies stores in Melbourne have religious statues of Mary and other Saints but they are rarely for sale..... This Mary came from the Vinnies store in Mont Albert and although she has a chipped nose and a few broken fingers she is in fantastic condition.... The blue bible also came from Vinnies Ringwood and the picture in the background came from the Vinnies store in Coburg....

Bert's Pal

Meet Oscar Bert's new pal from the Salvo's store in Ringwood...
I've decided to name the pair after the characters in the 70's sitcom 'The Odd Couple'
so Bert's name is now Felix......

Initially a Broadway play in 1965 'The Odd Couple' was about two friends with very different lifestyles and ideas on housekeeping trying to share an apartment. It starred Jack Lemmon as Felix Ungar and Walter Matthau as Oscar Maddison......

Dr Seuss Quote
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.”
