Props at Work - Heide Foundation Dinner

As mentioned on my previous post - Last year I was privileged and excited to provide props and help style the Heide Museum of Modern Art's  Foundation Dinner....it was a fabulous event to work on and the feedback was so fantastic it's inspired me to do more events... Set inside Heide's Central Gallery, themed on Louise Bourgeois and catered by Cafe Vue, the Foundation dinner had everything going for it and was a huge success...

I loved sourcing props and now have a lovely collection of jars, scissors, and spools.... Lisa from Vintage Influence was a sweetheart lending me old scissors and tape measures and also found me a fabulous pair of old shears which were perfect...Thanks also to Rebecca Vdovic
and of course to Claire at Heide who was a dream to work with....

Can't wait till the next one!!

Inspired by Louise Bourgeois

Last year I was privileged and excited to provide props and help style the Heide Museum of Modern Art's Foundation Dinner... and with a theme based on Louise Bourgeois it was an amazing and exciting event to work on...

Louise Bourgeois inspired so many artists over her 70 years of producing art and the more I read the more intrigued I became.

This photo of Louise Bourgeois taken by Annie Leibovitz is quite beautiful and I love the way Louise Bourgeois is looking toward her hand with her eyes closed - perhaps visualising a new work!!!!

If you want to see an amazing Louise Bourgeois exhibition her late work is showing at the Heide Museum of Modern Art until the 11th of March 2013......

Yellow Stripe Mixing Bowl

KH Photography

I absolutely love this yellow and white striped bowl - it has so much character and I can't even begin to imagine how many delightful baking creations have been made from this bowl....

By the way please forgive my lack of posts over the last week - I've been designing a website for Ten Green Balloons and am pleased to say I managed to create a front page (in dreamweaver) and load it to an internet host - at this stage its a "this website is currently under construction" site - but still officially a website..... I've talked about getting a website for years and here it is...

English Breakfast Battered Tea Tin

KH Photography
KH Photography
This old battered tea tin (which I found at an Op Shop on Saturday) has so much character and is going to stay just like it is ..... A kind lady in the Op Shop suggested it would come up nicely after a good polish but I like it looking battered and rustic so am not going to bother with the polishing rag.......

I'm not an English Breakfast tea drinker but this tin will store herbal tea bags just as nicely and looks fabulous on the shelf next to this amazing tea cup and saucer set....

Vintage Sewing Patterns

These Vintage Butterick patterns are fantastic... A talented friend of mine made the top dress (Butterick 9261 Designed in New York) for her mother for Christmas which looks beautiful....

The 2nd pattern Butterick 2780 is a maternity pattern but I quite like the striped jacket and if I can find some great fabric, I might even get out the sewing machine and attempt to make it.... My mother was a fabulous sewer who taught sewing and made a lot of my clothes growing up, so hopefully I've inherited some of her talent....

Wall of Doors

I'm in the process of designing a wall using old doors, draws and window frames and although this is a little ambitious for my purpose its pretty sensational.....

This amazing wall was designed by Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek.

Studio J&G Meakin Cup Saucer and Plate

Unfortunately the cup in this J&G Meakin trio has a small chip, but the pattern is pretty groovy and I quite like the colour...  Its looks great on the kitchen shelf and is destined to become a Ten Green Balloons prop!!!!

This Studio J&G Meakin design is called Impact which was one of the studio's top selling designs in the 60's..... "Groovy Baby"
