10 Things - Small Business

With a new financial year looming here in Australia I've been thinking about my small business Ten Green Balloons and looking for ways to take it to the next level...whatever that might be

Yesterday I bought a new notebook for ideas and dreams, caught up with a friend to talk it through, and restocked the TBG shelves with more glass flasks and beakers...

and then this morning I came across this article from one of my favourite designers and small business owners Abigail Ahern - whose design class I attended here in Melbourne a couple of years ago

Forever Young - 30yrs On

It seems hard to believe its been 30 years since my beautiful Mum lost her battle with breast cancer..

Thankfully Screening and Survival Rates are so much better today than they were 30 years ago…

but

the best weapon still seems to be early detection…

so think about a Mammogram 

especially if you are a woman over 50 or a younger woman with a family history

Etiquette in the Air - The Seat Kicker

On a recent flight from Melbourne to Brisbane I experienced some bad bad bad flying etiquette by a young passenger who shall be known as the Seat Kicker / Tray Table Basher… Even though I'm sure most passengers have experienced some form of bad Etiquette in the Air, this Seat Kicker / Tray Table Basher was relentless…even after being asked nicely several times to stop due to a recent operation and back issues the kicking continued.. Thankfully there were spare seats at the back of the plane and we moved because more surprisingly was the Grandfathers response when the air steward intervened….

"I don't care" was his response

"Unbelievable" was the response by the crew  

"He would be the first to complain if it was happening to him"

I always leave work feeing completely inspired and extremely lucky to work in such a creative environment….

The title Far Rainbow comes from a Russian science-fiction story set on the imaginary planet Rainbow and I love the large scale colourful sculptures referencing educational toys….
