Word of the Week - Sponge

Sponge

I'm still reading the Naked CEO by Alex Malley and although I'm only up to Chapter 4 Insights Come from Everywhere (I have read Chapter 4 twice already) I'm finding it really relatable…..

"Why do some people have great idea after great idea, like it just comes naturally to them? I can tell you, while many of those people are naturally creative, they also possess an ability to absorb like a sponge. This process makes them confident and opportunistic"
The Naked CEO page 29

I'm lucky enough to work casually at The Heide Museum of Modern Art and felt like a complete sponge last weekend surrounded by inspiring 21st Century art works… so much so that I left work feeling completely inspired with pages of idea after idea - I have been described as naturally quite creative and by the time I got home I was feeling pretty confident…. now the hard part I just have to turn some of those ideas into opportunities….

J&G Meakin - South Seas

I just adore these three J&G Meakin South Seas bread and butter plates from the late 50's which I've reluctantly decided to sell at my space at the Waverley Antiques and Collectables Bazaar…

I'm currently sorting through a huge pile of crockery here at TGB HQ which I've quite frankly been hoarding and saving them for a rainy day - which is what just happened all weekend here in Melbourne…So off to Waverly they are going and hopefully they will make someone really happy!!!

Word of the Week - Focus

Image Via PITCHI

I had a completely different word planned this week until I read an article about staying focused…
Reading the article was especially timely and helpful today because rather than focusing on what I was doing, I got completely side tracked and started reading my favourite blogs… although useful today - because it helped me re focus and complete what I was doing -  it can certainly be a time trap...

Focus is key when starting up and growing a new business, because its really easy to get side tracked and lose sight of your goals….

Word of the Week - Authentic

"Authentic: 1 of undisputed origin; genuine 2. reliable, trustworthy"
The Australian Oxford Dictionary

After returning from the library with a bag of full of inspiring business related books (I'm growing Ten Green Balloons) I've decided to feature a word a week here on the Ten Green Balloons Blog..
A word which encompasses my business values and how I want Ten Green Balloons to be perceived..

I'm also currently reading the Naked CEO by Alex Malley filled with great quotable quotes like this quote from Chapter One - Be Yourself
"There is one truth: being authentic is the master key to a positive life and career. Facades are a risky and exhausting business"
